There is hardly anything here I want to make. The lists of ingredients are off-putting, and very american, so I dont necessarily where what they are or how to obtain. To be fair, that might be wholly due to language issues, but it makes the book less appealing.

I've take this book with me on the train as it inspires me to come up with my own recipes. I think it is very easy to follow and makes it all seem fun.

An absolute dream to read, fun things to make and above all anyone can make most of the things in this book. Not difficult to source anything which may not already be in your kitchen now online shoping affords us the ease of finding natural ingredients.
I have made a number of the things and have only had my book 2 days.
I would say you don't have to be talented to make the cosmetics in this book, just enthusiastic. I have had a brilliant 2 days playing and this book is a great investment. I doubt in truth, I will need to buy any commercially produced skin care ever again. So saying I am a fully qualified beauty therapist in the U.K, my standards are high, I am fussy what I put on my skin!!!
Give it a go!

The comprehensive guide to home cosmetics...

This book is fantastic! I bought it for a friend and then had to invest in a copy for myself. I've made several concoctions already, and am itching to use up my commercially purchased products so I can justify making more of my own. Contains a very useful page on substitutions, which is invaluable if you can't get hold of some of the more unusual ingredients.

great ideas for home beauty
|
I bought this book after researching some of the chemicals found in commercial beauty treatments. I decided that it was best to avoid these products and this book was my first venture into making my own products. It has proven to be a great aid. The author has some wonderful recipes and the book has sections on cleansers/scrubs, toners/skin fresheners, creams/lotions, facial, lip and body treatments and more. I have found most of the ingredients easily available on the internet. My only criticism is that the author doesn't always make it clear how to store the products. I would also recommend Bharti Vyas' Beauty Wisdom for anyone interested in beauty from within.
