Customer Reviews:
Saga, but still usable
Frankly, having reffed Saga Star Wars I was not impressed. Some nice ideas but overly dumbed down and in some areas really weak. However, this book does add a nice amount of material for the always important space component of the game. I have heard complaints that certain vessels were missing: The Millenium Falcon and Naboo Fighters but frankly they are unnecessary as the falcon was in the main rulebook already and the naboo fighter was a little weak for my tastes. Another complaint I have heard is statting Darth Vader's super star destroyer as a space station, this is a classification that has been used for the Super Star Destroyers for most of the D20 lifespan. It is based on sheer size and the Death Star which is most definately a space station has Ion engines and Hyperdrive as well so the mobility of the Super Star Destroyers does not make the space station classification wrong. I am not sure I would agree with it but it doesnt really matter that much one way or another. The main way in which the book falls down is that it is Saga edition, a lot of the best parts of Revised have been amputated from Saga, and though the addition of the Talent trees to replace the class abilities was a very nice touch, the loss of skill ranks was really really not. As a book this one works and could probably be used with revised with a little work.
Excellent purchase
I've just gone through this book, and there's really nothing to find fault with. The new talents, feats and applications of skills look great.

We got some terrific extra information on the structure of some of the aspects of space travel that the original sourcebook at skimmed over. Like what agencies handle astrogation data, what sort of licences and fees are involved in being a certified captain, etc. Also some good stuff about how to handle it when a characters ship goes boom.

I love the ship modification rules, and the space combat maneuvers look terrific, can't wait to try them out.

There are also quite a lot of ships statted out here, and very well I might add. Some were left out, but those are ships like the early republic capital ships, and the sith battleships, that are probably being held in reserve for the upkoming Knights of the Old Republic (KOTOR) campaign setting.

The artwork is very well done, I would've liked more deck-plans, but doing up even just 1-2 capital ships would've involved a lot of extra work.

p.s. I notice that mine is the only review that actually applies to this product, the other three are written about a different book (of the same name) written for a different system, years ago. Someone at Amazon might want to check this out.
