Excellent revision.

As a seasoned D&D gamer, my career beginning way back in 2nd Edition AD&D when the rules were weird enough to melt your brain, the 3.5 revision is like a godsend.
In the new and improved Monster Manual your favourite beasties are back and ready to rumble with some really excellent revisions and easy-to-follow formats. Absolutely everything you need to know about a monster is right there, just looking at you. You'll never need to calculate flat-footed or touch AC again, because it's waving to you from the page, along with everything else that was missing in 3.0.
Clear explanations of monstrous feats, traits common to different types (vermin, undead, etc) all neatly categorised and spelled out for you at the back of the book. Creating your own monsters is easier now, a section at the back telling you everything you need to consider, and some handy techniques for making sure you get the right CR for your new creation. Not that you're likely to need new monsters with all the critters already supplied. And of course, more templates and rules for using monsters as player characters and mounts can add that little bit of extra flavour to any campaign.
All in all, if you're thinking of upgrading to 3.5, or you're using the old monster manual in your 3.5 games, I highly recommend you go for your wallet and shell out the cash on SECOND HAND copies of these rulebooks. I'm only giving 4 stars because the RRP for something that is, essentially, a clean-up of the old rules, is a little high. Second hand, though, I'd say it's worth it.

I would urge anyone still using the monster manual 3.0 edition to purchase this as soon as humanely possible. Some of the stats on monsters change remarkably, such as the Stone Golem's damage reduction being reduced from 30 to 10. This correlates far better with the 3.5 rules, and if you are playing with a DM using the 3.0 edition Monster Manual, whilst you use the 3.5 edition players handbook, you will probably find yourself outmatched and frustrated by monsters that should be easily within your grasp.

I thought at first who needs a Monster manual why don't i save a bit of money and create my own monsters. So i created 10 monsters which took me 3 weeks! I decided to show my group my monsters. But one of our group members opened up the monster manual he had bought and it was as if i was as if i had been hit by lightning, the monsters were fantastic. A Cockatrice? A Hag? there were so many to choose from. within a week we had an amazing experince of fun and fright. In a month we had cretaed a whole campaign thanks to our Monster manual. If you have a D&D group it is a must have. It is my fave book in the D&D Range

Another great book on monsters, from the basic monsters to the all round beasties, this book has them all.You will never need to invent or adapt another monster or creature in your sessions... EVER...Every monster has its illustration, even if it is not in the same page, has the explanation, all the stats, and a simple description to say to the players when they face the monster in a session...If you're a dungeon master you'll need this book in all your sessions...BUY IT!!!! NOW!!!!

After reading through the book, the most noticable change I saw, was that the movement of the monsters was mentioned in feet and in squares! I liked that very much. Of other things in the manual, some feats and better explanations of immunities were among the stuff that I missed in the old manual. Only rating the book with 3 stars, is because, essentially, the book is a copy of the old one and not really a new book, making it not worth full price, as many still have the "old" manual.
