3.0 not 3.5

I was very disappointed when I bought this book and actually read some of the entries as the book has not yet been updated to 3.5 edition. Wizards of the Coast have updated MM1, but seem to have forgotten about this one.

I sense more PC deaths...
Yes!!! Another way to kill hapless PC's. Many of these monsters are the blessing of the DM and the curse of the PC. All these monsters are ace and some are even epic. Phoenix. My favourite. My DM wanted to start again because we were "too powerful" but I made a bet that I could kill our entire party and the monster would be unharmed. The solution? A phoenixs "Re-Birth" ability. This book is a gem in the collection of the DM and should be bought at all costs. The Hellfire Wyrm is a must for a good fight. Buy This Book!!

An important addition to any DM's D&D collection
This book is very useful and increases the variety of monsters available in your D&D games, containing the same amount of monsters as the first Monster Manual. It even expands the range of Challenge Ratings available to you so you don't have to fiddle other creatures when bigger and better, more innovative creatures are available for your higher level or epic characters. A decent book, and a useful Dungeon Master's tool.

Extra Adversaries!
The content of this book is essentially similar to the Monster Manual already released, although the emphasis is more geared towards high level play. It includes both old favourites (gemstone dragons, for instance) and new creatures. Most of the concepts are interesting and well executed. My only gripe is that the artwork is somewhat patchy. Some pictures, like the phonix, are exquisite, whilst some are just plain awful. That said, this is a minor gripe and I highly recommend the book to any DM who has run out of original nasties to throw at his unsuspecting players.

this brings some old favourites back into play, it also increases the amount of creatures at your fingertips when designing your own adventures.I would recomend this to any DM who wants to throw in something that bit different.
