Customer Reviews:
The (living) death of Captain America... and everyone else.
Love Zombies. Love Marvel. However, before I read this I couldn't see how the two would work together. After reading it I can say they work brilliantly together. This book is equal parts sick and funny, and quite a shocking direction for Marvel. The plot is quite simple, but contains lots of fun/gross scenarios for our decomposing heroes. The artwork is great and perfectly suited to the material. Also printed at the back are all the covers from the individual issues. These are great and all put an undead twist on classic Marvel covers.

Marvel Zombies isn't a very deep experience, but gets five stars for fun. I can't wait to read all the other books, which hopefully will add a little more depth to this macabre version of the Marvel Universe.
A macabre take on the Marvel heroes!
This is a wonderfully twisted take on the Marvel Universe, this is an alternative universe that is exactly the same as the conventional Marvel Universe except...all the Marvel heroes have turned into flesh-eating zombies! This is full of outrageous zombie scenes, intertwined with a lot of black humour as the remaining 'normal' heroes try and fight off the zombified heroes, a great and 'out there' concept, definitely for those who want something different from their superheroes.
A great idea in need of better execution
Zombies, and superheroes - who doesn't love them? Both parties occupy a dear place in the heart of most comic book and movie fans the world over. Who, then, could fail to be enchanted by the idea of the Marvel Universe being gripped by a zombie plague, resulting in all our most beloved characters turning from heroes to ravenous, bloodthirsty flesh eaters?

But, sad to say, a great idea alone is not enough. While 'Marvel Zombies' has its moments of dark hilarity and subversive creepiness, it's way too thinly spread a story for a full five-issue narrative. It's certainly fun to see the Marvel Universe played with in so satirical a fashion at first, particularly with the arrival of the Silver Surfer and Galactus - our heroes being less concerned with the intentions of the eater of worlds than they are with eating him! But, with the multitude of characters sharing the spotlight, the absence of much in the way of human interest, and a gore quota which - while fairly full on for kid-friendly Marvel - is pretty mild for the palate of a seasoned zombie lover, the whole enterprise falls flat pretty quickly. Lumbered with a largely mediocre script (based on this and book one of 'The Walking Dead,' I really can't see why Robert Kirkman is so highly regarded) and not particularly memorable artwork, 'Marvel Zombies' takes what should have been truly iconic stuff and doesn't take it beyond a one-joke novelty. The tremendous covers are about the only part that realise the full potential of the idea, but do they alone warrant the price of a hardcover? You be the judge.
Zombies!
It started with a flash of light in the sky... and the Marvel Zombie universe was born. And what came of that was this gripping, gruesome and hilarious book. Brilliant righting and art on every page, with a twisted story that actually gets you rooting for the brain munches. However, the star quality really comes from the humour; witch is accessible to anyone with even a basic knowledge of the living breathing marvel heroes. To sum up, this is a golden addition to ANY comic library, though maybe not a good starting point.
A new way of looking to the Marvel Universe
Directly from the pages of Ultimate Fantastic Four comes this strange Marvel Universe version, filled with zombie-like heroes and villains.
Robert Kirkman, of Walking Dead fame, writes this mini series taking the story from the end of the Ultimate Fantastic Four one, where a sane Magneto succeeded in helping Reed Richards from the Ultimate Universe to escape from this insane world.
It is interesting seeing all our beloved heroes in a zombie version, the story is funny, maybe a little bit too cruel in some moments.
Very enjoyable. The hardcover includes all the variant covers produced for the series!
