Felt like padding...

Got to say, have just acquired this title and it feels more like padding than anything else. I really enjoyed the previous ones, and I'm sucked in now by the 'series factor' but it's not the best title by any means. The art seems to jar incredibly and the plot seems to lose its way far too often. I like the interplay between the characters following the events of the previous title but these character moments are few and far between. It just seems like a baddie of the week scenario, building up to a bigger and badder next volume. It's almost as if they've thought, must put in another villain and forget about the character development that's been developing over the series as a whole. Not impressed, but will stick with it ... perhaps.

Suprisingly Brilliant!!

At first looking at the cover I was slightly misgiving, but was I wrong if I thought it was not up to the previouse Ultimate X-Men volumes. After reading the fantastic writing by Mark Miller, it was slightly disscouraging going through the very repetative and stuttering dialouge from Brian Michael Bendis this was really refreshing. Also after the superb artwork by Adam Kubert, Chris Bachello(preferably not his three world tour issues) and David Finch the art definatly lived up to its predecessors and was marvelouse. The story was great, with the introduction of the Ultimate Sinister and the nail biting cliffhanger ending and storms makeover after trying to deal with the death of beast... it realy gives you a cool fresh feeling. in his outline for the storys at the back of the book the author talks about Mack's upcoming issues but on the amazon info says its the same writer so either way i wouldnt be dissapointed. Aswell as a love triangle seemingly forming between iceman, rouge and kitty, emma frost and prof x's relationship prospects and what will hapen wit the new mutants, I have a feeling(because I saw a pic of it) that gambit and... no I hate spoilers. Fantastic, must read not complete without it. voila!!!
