The Start of Something Excellent

The exiles is fast paced and very different from anything else Marvel currently has out. The idea of time travelling mutants who need to repair other timelines in order to return to their own gives the writers a lot to play with and it shows in some of the storylines they come up with. You see a lot of recognisable characters but in different worlds they play different roles. All in all, its well worth a read, the characters are varied and easy to relate to and Morph is the funniest character to come along in a while.

unexpectedly Xcellent
|
I only checked out Exiles on a whim since getting back into comics after 7yrs. I was blown away. I've now got the entire collection. Although the characters themselves arent as good as the Xtreme or new Xmen, as far as powers go anyway(apart from Mimic who rocks). The stories although action packed, are very character driven which make for a far more interesting read. I wont Spoil the plots for you but its basically about a bunch of younger teenage alternate universed/timed X-men brought together to "put right what once went wrong!" a lot like Quantum Leap and Sliders. It has loads of guest appearances from Wolverine, Spiderman, Hulk and all other Marvel characters, Its almost like reading the history of Marvel heroes, so it really helped keep me up to date from my absence.Plus You never know if who is gonna survive to be in next issue from the regular cast and guests. Buy it you shouldnt be dissapointed!

Time-hopping mutant adventures!
|
Who are the Exiles? They're a group of mutants each from a different alternate reality. Each one of them has just had something terrible happen to them. They are told by an omnipotent being called the Timebroker that if they go on missions fixing problems in other alternate realities, the problems will be fixed. They recieve their missions from a reality warping artefact called the Tallus. They never know where they're going next or what will happen to them. The characters are all interesting with plenty of different sides to them and that's what makes this so good. The members are: Blink: a purple skinned teleporter from a reality where America was ruled by Apocalypse. Her reality has been destroyed, as a result she was never born. Mimic: the former terrorist turned X-Man who can "copy" other mutants powers. He is on death row because of an early terrorist attack. Morph: shapeshifting comedian. He's probably the funniest character in comics. He was injured and is now in a comatose liquid form being kept by the Beast. Nocturne: the daughter of Nightcrawler and Scarlet Witch, he has telepathy and can shoot "Hex-Bolts" at her enemies. Her father has been kiled by her grandmother, Mystique. Thunderbird: he was warped by Apocalypse to become his Horseman of War. He never left the side of Apocalypse. Magnus: the son of Magneto and Rogue. He can magnetically control things and and turns people into metal with skin to skin contact. He has turned his mother into steel. These six mutants have to fix the time stream otherwise they face death or worse. They repair two timelines in this book, meet old friends and old enemies in what is easily one of the best X-Men books ever to be released!
