The typeface is a little old-fashioned, but the information is very clearly presented and simple to follow. An ideal first point for those wanting to learn the Maori language.

A brilliant introduction to a language steeped in intruige.

I first read this book many years ago. My fascination with the Maori World, culture, spirituality and language lead me to this little gem of a book to tackle the basics of their language. The book itself should be viewed as a manual for begginers in Maori language. Although there was some confusion when I attempted to speak Maori in New Zealand don't be deturbed. There are various dialects and pronunciations however I was welcomed everywhere I went for attempting to speak the archaic and magical verse. I hope anyone who purchases this book enjoys delving into an exotic world of a language that is slowly regenerating itself in many vibrant forms. You have a chance to keep it alive and I intend on playing an active role in this process. Arahanui.
