A must read for any pet owner

Not being a fisherman, I wasn't sure if this book was right for me. But, this book isn't really about fishing. It's about a hearfelt relationship between a man and his best friend - a dog. I loved this book and have recommended it to everyone that I know. So far, no one has been disappointed. It's a must read for any pet owner who has a special bond with his/her pet.

Wonderful story for all, but especially so for dog lovers

This book was especially poignant for me since I too had a Golden Retriever who loved to go fishing with me in the rivers in the West. We took one last trip two years ago and the book brought back all sorts of memories for me. But the book is about so much more and will appeal to anybody. For those of you lucky enough to get the book now, you will find it an incredibly easy read on your summer vacation. It is one of those very rare books that you can put down and when you come back to it you will have no trouble at all picking up right where you left off. A great read...I only wish there was more.

Touching story of a man and his dog

This is a very touching story between a man and his dog....if only everyone could spend time with their pets as Joe has. I wonder how Nellie is doing now?

A beautifully evocative, moving story.

The fact that Joseph Monninger manages to avoid sentimentality in this poignant story is a tribute to his writing talent. I own cats, I've never been fishing in my life, and HOME WATERS is the best book I've read this year. A perfect gift for Dad, too--buy two copies!

Out west, on the road with a dog - what more could you want.

For all of those who have driven across country to Wyoming, Idaho, and/or Montana, and have a pooch, this is truley a wonderful book. Puts you there once again. You dont have to be into fishing to appreciate what is written here. This is the kind of read that takes you away from the daily grind and highlights the important things.
