A definite must read for anyone who never feels alone!!

An excellent book which was brought to life by Orwell's effective techniques such as symbolism and personification. It makes us all a little paranoid that maybe, just maybe BIG BROTHER is watching our every move and listening to each and every word that passes through our lips. I highly recommend that if you read just one book in your lifetime it should be 1984.

Sheer excellence

Orwell's last novel did not let his standards slip. Previous novels of his such as animal farm are shown in a dull light next to the exceelence of this novel. Orwell writes of the scrutiny in a manor which sparks the passions of anger, and love affairs which stirr emotions to an vast extent which were once belived inexistent.

don't be fooled into thinking this is the original novel...

I thought this was the novel version of 1984 - but it's not. It's a summary of each chapter and a list of characters - very useful if you are going to be sitting a literature exam - (If that's what you want it for, it looks fine), but if you wanted, as I did, to read the novel, you'll be disappointed.

Provokes thought with a red hot iron!

I first read this a few years ago, and still cannot believe how many different situations bring it all flooding back! 1984 was, and still is SO embedded into everyday life, and millions of people refer to it, without even having read it, because the concepts from it are so reknowned. Don't stay in the dark, and don't rely and a TV series to really understand Big Brother! This book is an absolute MUST READ for anyone who thinks outside of their own fragile environment. Your life will never be quite the same...

The worst written classic in the English language

1984 is a book all endure but none should. Although much imitated and undoubtedly impacting on the popular conscience the book itself is badly written and disinteresting. More's Utopia is a better choice.
