laugh out loud

My daughters (6 and 3 years) love the 'Large family' books and tapes. This story recounts a day when Mr Large takes over running the house because Mrs Large is not well. It is so well-observed, that the first time I read it I was helpless with laughter at one point (the girls thought it was very funny that I couldn't go on for a while!) and the book has been read and enjoyed many times since. This book is not for you if you are sensitive about stereotyping male and female roles in the home, but if you don't take these things too seriously, it's great fun.

The US Version

We love the Large family and their stories. I read them to my elder daughter (now 17) when she was little. We now have the whole set and my 2 1/2 year old loves these stories. When I saw Mr Large in Charge I couldn't wait to buy it. However, I made a mistake when I bought this book as I didn't realise it is the American version so uses the terms Mommy, Mom and Soccer. In addition, it has been written for the over 4's and the vocabulary is rather advanced for a 2 year old to understand, unlike the other Large family books. I tend to modify it somewhat which makes it hard work. That being said, my little girl loves the story and selects this one for me to read every night at bedtime.
