Welcome addition to Viniyoga instruction
This is a fine new instruction book that helps guide the student through the wonderful Desikachar tradition of "Viniyoga"--a form of yoga that includes an emphasis on breathing, gentle but challenging routines that are organized in a logical sequence, and a sensible, manageable approach to yoga that is sure to finally get you started on a healthful, enjoyable, stress-reducing, and muscle-toning home practice. After years of struggling with Iyengar style yoga, I finally found that I was able to establish a daily home practice with Viniyoga. Mr. Harvey's book is very well organized, crystal clear, and offers a very complete series of routines. This is great for seniors, the overweight, the health-challenged--and regular folks too!

Yoga for real people
At last! A useful yoga book showing pictures of real people with ordinary bodies rather than super flexible skinny models in ridiculous poses! As a yoga teacher, I am keen that people should realise that you do not have to be double jointed or a gymnast to practice yoga and I get tired of all the glossy books showing beautiful people in poses that most of us will never achieve in this life or the next. The photos and instructions are really clear and most of the sequences will be beneficial for most types of bodies. There are sections for particular ailments and lots on the mental benefits of yoga rather than just the physical. I got this from the library, but now I am going to buy it!
