I really enjoyed this book and could understand a lot of Ash's feelings about love and romance due to the way the author draws her characters so well. Basically her family origins have left her with a lot of mistrust and scepticicm when it comes to loving relationships, and whilst she is happy to date men, commitment scares her to death. Through her career, which she is pursues with obsessive perfectionism, she meets exactly the right people to open her eyes to the truth. Our fiercely independent heroine starts to realise that all her relationships are in need of an overhaul if she is to find happiness, and it takes guts plus the right man to break through the denial.I found I was willing her to move on and let go of the chains that bind. I suspected who she would end up with (and I wanted her to end up with) all along, but had to wait till the end to find out if I was right. A good entertaining read, believable characters, and a storyline which is straightforward yet explores the nuances of human frailty when it comes to finding true love. I'll bet many readers will identify with at least some parts of Ash's journey. At times the pace was a little slow for my liking, but this is the first book I have read by Sheila O'Flanagan, and it certainly won't be the last. Just the kind of cosy stuff to curl up with on a winter's day or bask in the sun with on holiday.
