Customer Reviews:
Rubbish!
This book is really boring and we were forced to read it in school. its about a stupid fat guy who has no friends, only read it if you have to like i did becuase it is really boring.
Winner of Grampian Children's Book Award
In view of the fact that Catherine Forde won the teenagers' vote for the Grampian Children's Book Award, I had to read her winning novel Fat Boy Swim. It was perfectly clear why the book was so popular, although I think perhaps you have to be a teenager going through those horrible years of torment from others to fully appreciate it. It's certainly a feel-good book and a great incentive for anyone considerning learning to swim! The Scottish hero, Jimmy, is a very realistic character - fat and bullied, with a bitterly ironic talent for cooking which he can't openly share for fear of ridicule. Jimmy draws real sympathy from the reader and his equal triumphs over the bullies and his unhealthy lifestyle is accompanied by a darker family secret. (c)http://www.kidz-books.net
fat boy star!
this book is fantastic! it makes u realise that anything is possible when you put ur mind to it. jimmy is exceedingly fat, and yet he manages to loose a lot of mass, and his talents show thro.
This is a must read, a truly fantastic book that shows people the reality that they are completely unaware of!

if it doesnt appeal to you at first, then keep going bcuz it picks up and becums so much betta!

this book was an interesting read from the moment i opened to the first page. it takes the reader through many of the thoughts and feelings of a person who is considered overweight and consequently is taken the mick out of. it shows the emotional journey of an 'outcast' at school due to his weight, and proves that appearance isn't everything. i felt extremely sorry for Kelly as he has done no worng and yet is hated and treated differently. the book shows that anyone can be successful providing that they have the determination. i would reccomend this book to teenagers boys and girls aged 13-16. a good read!!! enjoy!!
