Started an Addiction     
This was the first Elmore Leonard novel I read, several years ago, and it persuaded me to go out and buy every EL novel I could find. I have fifteen or twenty of them now. He writes crime novels with a deftness of technique which lifts him above comparisons with most 'popular' authors. He is the most readable, most literary, most addictive crime writer I've come across.
