Customer Reviews:
Interesting but poor ending
This book was a page turner until unfortunately the last third and the end of the book. I agree with some of the other reviews that it was predictable and not very advanced. However I did feel that I could empathise with the sisters journeys however some aspects of the storyline was a bit simple which is a shame.
Inspiring story, really puts you in a good and positive mood
I really enjoyed reading this book. I've read nearly all of Bagshawe's books, I admit this one's slightly different but a very nice read. It makes you feel like everything's possible! and that women are just as capable as men at being successful if they put their mind to it. Truly recommend it!
whats happened!
one of my favourite authors is louise bagshawe but what on earth has happened recently to her! glitz is awful when compared to her older back list - i am so disappointed! seriously, try career girls, venus envy or tuesdays child instead. PLEASE LOUISE GET YOUR ACT TOGETHER YOU USED TO BE GREAT!
Sloppy writing!
This is an easy going, quite fun book but it is fairly predictable and is very sloppily written. It's full of silly mistakes, like: Athena driving at 3.30 pm on her way to lunch at her sister's house where they are all drinking mid morning; talk of the 'autumn sun' in January; the Seychelles being in the Pacific; and many more similar mistakes. Also the book starts in January, weeks and weeks pass (& half the book), and it's still talking about a late January day. These easily avoidable errors slightly ruined the book for me, I felt it showed a disregard for the reader, that the book didn't seem to have been proof read at all.
just too long and a bit boring
I had high hopes for this book, I thought it would be a fun way to pss an afternoon, but by the time I was halfway through I was gettign rather bored.
None of the characters are very likeable, I have to say that there was not a single person in this that I was rooting for, I just wanted to give all the women a good slap!
The author seems to spend more time detailing designer outfits than she does concentrating on the plot, and it all came across as rather shallow.
Although I sometimes enjoy chick-lit for a lighthearted read this is not one of the best I have read, and seems a little formulaic.
It may be an ok read for on the beach when you need very little concentrationa nd just want to pass some time, and die hard chick-lit fans might enjoy it, but it just felt a bit too dull for me.
I would recommend reading marian keyes, sheila flanagan, patricia scanlan or an early jane green over this book.
