I remember The Animals of Farthing Wood as a television series from my childhood, and I loved it very much, so when I saw a friend reading the book I had to borrow it at the tender age of 22! The book follows a group of animals through all of the different perils that face them, and tells the story of how they all stick together - a lesson that could be learnt by all its readers old and young. Throughout the book there are many happy and sad moments, that give children a realistic outlook on life (although the mole riding on the badgers back is a bit hard to belive!) and are bound to keep them enthralled as they read the book (or you read the book to them). The author has a way with words which bring all the characters to life, and really make the book unputdownable. In short this is a great book - an exciting book for children - and a nice regresion back to childhood for adults. If you have a child in your life, buy them a copy, and don`t forget to get one for yourself as well!
