Customer Reviews:
Chilling because it's possible....
In one word.... fantastic !!

The story of Andrew Sutherland.... a man trapped in Iraq when the flow of oil begins to dry up..... however, is Andy really that surprised at sudden world upheavel ?? Maybe, maybe not. He, Jenny his wife and his two children, Leona and Jacob, fight for survival in a changing Britain and world.

Mr. Scarrow captures your imagination from the very start, from the blistering heat of the hostile Iraqi desert, to the dangers of snooping around a large suburban supermarket after order has been destroyed to the fear of a motorway service station siege, terror and fear are abundant throughout. I was reading on the edge of my seat with a nervous tension. I could not put it down, I had, had, had to find out what happened next, how Andy gets to his wife and kids, how Jenny avoids getting raped and why that man is following Leona !!!!

Smoothly written, Mr. Scarrow expertly builds up the image of a Britain at war with itself, where you're not safe ANYWHERE !! Where gangs of youths murder, loot, maim and rape their way through suburban London,
Mr. Scarrow's "Last Light" presents a bleak, bleak portayal of a collapsing world, a book which recreates the post-apocolyptic atmosphere of the 1950s classics of Wyndham, Orwell and Huxley.

If you love that kind of literature then you will love "Last Light". Mark my words, this is going to be a classic... more please Mr. Scarrow...
Bloody brilliant and slightly terrifying!
The aftermath around the world following a devious plot to halt the world's oil production. Very Lord-of-the-flies-esque.

My first Alex Scarrow book and wow was I stunned by it. I could have read the whole book in one sitting, but I stretched it out over three days because I didn't want it to end. The plot was frighteningly plausable, the characters believable, the devastation utterly real.

This book was brilliantly writing, I was drawn in by page 3, It was so believable, in fact, that when I woke up the next morning, I had a moment where I thought I should drive to the shops and stock up on pilchards and bottled water.

Bloody brilliant!
Last Light
I found this book excellent.
I loved the way it referenced many places in London and how it is of relevance to current affairs such as the recent and upcoming (theoretical) problems with the worlds crude oil supply. Where does it come from?
More importantly who is really in control of the precious oil pipelines linking countries together. What would happen if the worst happened?

I find with most books you have to stick with the first chapter but then your hooked. The first chapter is short in this book.
Couldn't put it down. Definitely recommend.
Chillingly Plausible....
One of the best books I have ever read, the author is on a par with Matthew Reilly who is my favourite author.
The pacing of the book is excellent and keeps you hooked - I could not put it down.
I especially liked the conspiracy aspect of the book and the author seems well read on the subject.
My girlfriend read this before me and loved the book as much as me and it has really made us both think about how this really could happen in our near future and what we would do about it...
Also at the time my girlfriend was reading the book, the news was constantly talking about the oil price rising almost daily to new records and I was reading on a conspiracy website that the Bilderberg group apparently want the oil price to hit 200 dollars a barrel by the end of the year....Scary stuff - Buy It!!!!!!
Poignant and Thrilling!
I found myself completely absorbed into this book from the very beginning and have read it inside of 5 days.

The short and snappy chapters were expertly constructed to give just enough adrenaline before ending, making you read on to find out what's happening next.

The characters were believable and relatable. You feel for them - and others - in the crisis and more than once I found myself wondering where I'd be in that kind of situation.

The sombre aura of the book's content appeals to the survivalist in us all; I found myself wondering how quickly I might get to the supermarket and back should the book's events suddenly begin to unfold. Full of interesting "conspiracy theory" tidbits, the book takes you on a high-speed journey as Britain - and the world - head towards societal collapse.

In today's social climate, the extremist and apocalyptic scenario envisioned by Scarrow isn't as "fictional" as it may have seemed a handful of years ago. Chillingly plausible, I found the book to be an excellent and exciting read. Enjoyable and thought-provoking!
