Customer Reviews:
A beautiful read
This is a book i will never forget. It is beautiful to read, ican't say enough about it. I just wish i had been lucky enough to have had the relationship these two men had. Please read it, go and buy it now.
A Beautiful And Heartfelt Read.
I wanted to read this book after reading both 'The Five People You Meet In Heaven', and 'For One More Day' by the same author. Both books I loved, and so I was hoping I would enjoy this one too.

I don't really read Biographies, so I wasn't sure what to expect. Any how, as I was reading this book I had to keep reminding myself that this is a 'true' story, and that it wasn't based on fiction.
The reason for this; I found Morrie to be so lovable. Even now, I find it hard to believe it's true.
I really enjoyed every page of this book and found myself drawn to it. It made me think about certain things going on in my life, and all this comes from a man who near the end of his life, wanted to share his wisdom and love with the world. I easily found myself drawn into this book, and could picture and visualize places and scenery, and the people with how they had been described and written. I can also tell you, I cried and cried at the end of this book, it was so very sad. You're gonna need your tissues!

This a true story of how a Mitch Albom lost contact with his uni professor, his most favourite teacher. Who he had promised to stay in touch with, after he graduated. Life moved on and the years passed, until one day Mitch heard Morrie's name announced on TV. He then gets in contact with his dying teacher and their lessons with each other begin again, until the end.

I highly recommend this book to everyone. It's such an easy book to read, and I know there's a few people who'll finish it in a day. I'm so pleased I read it, and I will certainly be looking out for more books by Mitch Albom.
Emperors New Clothes
Having quite enjoyed reading 5 people you meet in heaven whilst my flight was delayed for 5hrs I was keen to read this book due to the outstanding reviews. What a way to waste several hours of my life; this book was neither thought provoking or profound.

I honestly don't see how this book can be considered elightening, profound or inspiring unless you spend your time reading Heat magazine, Z-list celeb biographies, fill your life with pointless drama by involving yourself in neighbours and relatives business and think you are really interesting as you talk to your friends about how books life "a child called it" made you cry and wasn't his mother wicked.

As a healthy 30 year old woman (as far as I am aware I have my whole life ahead of me) I clearly remember growing the same thoughts, questions and philosophies that are shared with us in this bok when I was an angsty teenager and exploring them at a much deeper level than this book. I really thought this book would take my ideas further and insire new ones.... but what to we get from this book?

Here are the inspiring, life changing lessons we learn.

1. We talk about the world. Lesson: It's ok to cry and the most important thing in life is to give out love and to let it come in.

2. We talk about feeling sorry for yourself. Lesson: Its ok to feel sorry for yourself and have a cry so long as you dont wallow in it and pick your self up. Its all about attitude and although its good to grieve for loss you have to also look at what you still have and focus on the positive.

3. We talk about regrets Lesson: We don't take time to assess our life and make sure we are living the one we want, the one that is fulfilling instead we get caught up in the details such as buying a new car and fixing the radiator just to keep going instead of focusing n what we really want. We need to decide what we want to aime fo it as it won't come to us, we have to go for the life we want otherwise it will pass us by.

I am not going to through all the lessons, but these are the first three to give you an idea of what you will get from the book. There are a few other things to the books such as how Mitch deals with his guilt of not bothering with Morrie for 16 years and that his brother is in Spain il with cancer and won't let the family in etc. I paticularly found the storyline of how Morrie is comfortable crying and throughout the book wants Mitch to loosen up and cry, whch in good cliche'd fashion he finally does when they say their last good be and Morries says "I knew I'd get you in the end" Yes, I felt like throwing up right there onto the book as payback for wasting my life and tricking me into reading it!

I also squirmed everytime Morrie referred to them both as "Tuesday People" "remember we're Tuesday People" Morrie said with a smile....

I could go on but I will stop there. If you decide to read this book I sincerely hope you enjoy it and don't feel like suing Mitch Albom, the publishers and every person that jumped on the bandwagon and wrote such ludicrously, over-hyped and unbelievably good reviews for such a pointless, bad use of trees book. I will never get back those hours I wasted reading this book, for that I wish I could the afore-mentioned.
I bought this book to find out more about MND
I can't remember how I came to hear of this book, but I'm glad I did! My main reason for buying it was to read more about life with Motor Neurone Disease but this book is much more than just that. I read it very soon after my mother was diagnosed with MND and I wanted as much information as possible about the disease. Although this book is about a different type of MND I really enjoyed reading it. Ultimately it makes you realise what's important in life - friendship mainly. It didn't give much insight into the disease though which is what I really wanted to know at the time. I will definately read it again though. I also bought a book from Amazon called "Tomato Juice" which was about a lady with MND.
Amazing, insightful read
I was recommended Five People you meet in Heaven (by same author) by so many people I had to give it a go. Having loved that I moved on to this. It is a fairly quick read, not a very big book but one that is quite hard to put down. You know from the onset that it aint going to have a happy ending, there will be no skipping into the distance at the culmination of this one but for the advice it imparts and the emotions that it invokes I would have to mark it highly. It isn't a heavily spiritually enlightening type of book, just a beautifully written and evocative tale of a man who catches up with his university professor in the last stages of his life... It really does make you think about the insane materialistic world we all live in and drives the point home that love really is all you need. Yes it made me cry but in a good way. If you want a nice story with a point read this, then buy a copy for everybody you know!
