A very good book giving a detailed description on most basic concepts of particle physics, the standard model the big bang and cosmology. This book is an ideal starting point if you want to get into any of these topics. It is particularly strong on the description of leptons, antimatter, hadrons, quarks, and decays. The book also gives an intuitive feel on the meaning and representation of the feynman diagrams although it does not allow to go into the calculation of probabilities associated with particle interactions. All in all I can only recommend the read! I only give 4 stars and not five as the book does not provide any exercises. This in my opinion would be quite necessary in order ot test whether the topics are properly understood.
