Pick this up. An excellent night time read, full of zany, waggish and yet educational information relating to old laws.

Funny, daft and bizarre and almost educational!!!

I bought the book because i was bored to be honest and am studying a LLB course and decided i would like to cover some really old laws, and in doing so i stumbled across this little beauty.
Its great laughter all the way through and makes you both proud and shamed to be english, but its also been a great help in learning history to do with my law degree, helps to form a broad knowledge, but besides that, it is superb read for law or non law person alike..

Full or weird and wacky laws and facts...

On first viewing this book looks like the standard type of book you'd get as a freebie from a book club, but in fact it's more than just an "also ran". It's a fascinating read. The book is divided into lots of chapters, covering most subjects you can think of in law, with stories/facts relating to the use of the obscure laws through the ages. It's hard to put this book down once you start reading. Some of the laws will shock, some will make you laugh out loud and others will just confuse the mind! It's also an excellent book to just pick up and read a section here and there, so is an ideal coffee-table read. The only down points are the constant editing mistakes....both in spelling and grammar. Hopefully by the next printed edition those will have been resolved. Over all, a very enjoyable read.

I would recommend this book to anyone who is interested in the quirky history of England. This book contains a lot of old laws which, for some reason, are still laws even to this day. This book provides an entertaining read, and also provides an insight into the history of these laws, how they originated and how they were upheld. I do not regret buying this book, and is worth the money in my opinion.
