sizzling tale
couldnt put this down, read it in an afternoon. the chemistry between kyrian and amanda is strong and their story just sucks you in. this is the first dark hunter book ive read and i will definitely be reading more.
Absolutely loved it
This remains my favourite book from the Dark Hunter series. I love the chemistry between Kyrian and Amanda. I've re-read it a number of times. I may have to buy myself another copy soon as mine is looking a bit worse for wear now! A highly recommended read.
"Dark-Hunter" series book 1
Amanda Devereaux dreams of a safe, boring life settling down with a dull accountant, yet her somewhat dysfunctional family always manages to scare off any "normal" guy; an easy feat when your identical twin is a vampire hunter and other siblings are practicing witches or voodoo priestesses brewing up potions in the kitchen. Yet whilst Amanda longs for a regular life, she fails to acknowledge her own gifts, special talents that draw her deep into a paranormal world.

In his prime Kyrian of Thrace was bitterly betrayed by the woman he loved and later tortured to death. Yet hearing his soul cry for vengeance, the Goddess Artemis converted him into a Dark-Hunter; an immortal warrior secretly battling the enemies of the human race. Now 2000 years later he finds himself revealing what he truly is to a mortal; a woman he is reluctantly falling in love with.

Suddenly Amanda is caught up in the adventure of a lifetime; starting with finding herself handcuffed to the buffest man she has ever encountered and threatened by a God who for some reason appears very interested in her. Falling in love with Kyrian and finally embracing her own psychic skills, will Amanda's act of betrayal help free his soul from the grasp of Artemis or destroy it?

I love tortured heroes and you can't get more tortured than Kyrian (both physically and emotionally). Matched with the feisty, aikido black belt Amanda, the fireworks between the two are explosive as they struggle to create a seemingly impossible future together whilst facing off the deadly threats of a God. Although "Night Pleasures" is touted as the first "Dark-Hunter" book, Kyrian makes a very, very brief appearance in "Fantasy Lover", a book which also features Amanda's sister Selena; the witch responsible for matching Grace to cursed love slave Julian of Macedonia (another fabulous book). For those of you new to the Dark-Hunter world then be prepared; you won't be able stop after reading "Night Pleasures"; you'll be eagerly grabbing further books in this marvellous paranormal romance series.
A spoiler for a poor novel.
Unfortunately this is about the 4th Dark-Hunter novel I have read and basically they just get worse.

Too much exposition about Dark-Hunters gets in the way of the plot momentum and the heroine seems overly impressed by the size of the Dark-Hunter wallet. The plot doesn't really get going until the last quarter of the novel.

As far as I'm concerned there is a huge plot hole in this story. At the beginning of the novel, Amanda's former boyfriend ditches her supposedly because he is disgusted when he meets her crazy magic potion cooking and vampire hunting sisters. Then towards the end of the novel the reader is told that he was in fact a half-Apollite whose purpose was to get Amanda to use her undiscovered sorceress powers for the Daimon cause. So why would he ditch Amanda just because he met her sisters? How does that make any sense? But it's fairly typical of this authors contradictory plotting in many of her novels where characters often completely change who they are.

Stick to reading the much better 'Dance with the Devil' instead.

D/H series rocks!
Can i first start by saying Sherrilyn Kenyon is a fantastic author and not just limited to the D/H series, though i have to say this was where i became a true addict. I have read all of the dark-hunter series to date and decided it would be fitting to write this review at the begining of the series (night pleasures.)Ok yes, this series is a big break from the norm and definitely tests both your imagination and asks you to drop everything and believe the unbelievable. Yet i can promise you, you wont be disappointed. Basical in short the dark-hunter brethin are vampire slaying warriors. Each story in the series focuses on one particular D/H and gives you an insight into there character e.g what made them become a D/H, how they live and deal with being an immortal soldier, but mostly how there lives are suddenly turned upside down and inside out as they find love with there respective heroines. And you get a hell of a lot of humour thrown into the mix. Yeah you can expect alot of laughs as well as alot of tears in this series (oh and there's pleanty of heat too) I can recommend this series to anyone who has an open mind and a few hours to spare. Like i said, you wont be disappointed. If you are? well thats to bad. For everyone else, prepare to become as addicted as i am. If you want to learn more about the dark-hunter world then visit Sherri's web site at [...] it should fill in whatever blanks i've left.
