Customer Reviews:
Death and what it teaches about life
Dannion Brinkley tells the story of his near death experience in a very clear, immediate way. He doesn't hype it up, and what comes through is the profound change that can occur in someone's life simply from reviewing their experiences from the perspective of the people they have affected. One near death experience, of course, might be deemed careless, but two... His second showed how much the work he was doing was really helping. It showed him the positive effects he was creating.

I recommend this book for anyone who is working on their own spiritual progress, whether interested in NDEs or not. Dannion Brinkley's life reviews are a rapid fire introduction to the mysteries about ourselves that take most of us a lifetime to uncover.
A strange book about near-death experiences
The author of this book got struck by a lightning (in 1975) through a phone line and barely survived. He visited afterlife and he was given a life review there. It wasn't pleasant because he had been a self-centered and mean person. He had loved fighting and served in the army too, in Vietnam. In the afterlife he got to relive the pain he had caused to others. But, anyway, he came back to continue living as a totally changed man.

The first two chapters of this book I would recommend to any military professional. But as a whole this was slightly strange a book. Odd visions of future, psychic abilities... And the author's mission in life became to piece together some strange device. -And the story continues in another book...
Check page 18, 4th line from the bottom!!!!!!!!!
My wife and I are thrilled by all such concepts and both have had experiences that indicate that we have a lot to look forward to after death.

It was with excitement that we started this book. As we progressed towards page 18 we grew more despondent. Graphic details started describing how for example a snipers bullet exploded a victims head.

THE BIG QUESTION: If you had seen life after death and all the wrongs you had done, would you describe one of the wrongs as "....the fine art of sniping and demolition". No! You would be so disgusted with these actions that you would never refer to this in the way the author did. You may have said "...principles of..." or "...acts of..." but never "FINE ART".
I have seen the light on this one. This is how I imagine a cheesy, make-believe war or cowboy story would read.
Praise The Almighty for this wisdom.
Utter rubbish
There are good books on NDEs but this is not one of them. Throughout the book I could not get rid of the feeling that what the author reported was made up. To be clear: I do not doubt the validity of NDEs (although their significance is somewhat unclear) but I do doubt the honesty of this particular book. The passage where it become most clear is the bit where the author reports about his predictions of the future. As far as I could tell, all predictions about the time after the book was written (but before today (Sept 2007) where pretty much wrong. This discredits the book. Another thing that makes me very suspicious are the psychic powers the author reports. I cannot recommend this book. There are better books on NDEs.
He Turned His Life Around, and Made it Count
In 1975, Dannion Brinkley died after being struck by lightning through the telephone. The telephone melted in his hand, and the nails in his shoes became welded to the nails on the floor. Dannion died immediately, and neither ambulance workers, nor hospital personnel, were able to revive him. Twenty-eight minutes later, we woke up in the morgue with a sheet over his face, where he was soon discovered alive by a morgue technician.

One-third of the book is the story of what Dannion saw on the other side. He was forced to undergo a "life review," and it was not pleasant. He had been a bully, and become a soldier. He was forced to relive every incident, with the pain he had caused others, even to animals.

Another third of the book is the story of the positive changes Dannion made in his life in the succeeding 14 years. He then had heart failure and again dies (for the second time) on the operating table. He is again taken for a life review. He is forced to relive again the first part of his life, which is just as painful as it was the first time. Then, when he relives the second part of his life, he is uplifted by the joy he feels. Reliving it in the life review is even better than the events had been in real life. However, the being of light lastly tells him that his work making the "energy centers" on earth is not yet finished, and that he must go back to finish his work. He wakes up in the recovery room.

This is a fantastic book, which can really make a difference in the lives of many people. It shows clearly (as do many other books recounting near-death experiences) that our each and every thought and action are weighed by our intentions. We are held responsible for our each and every action toward others. This book shows that ANY ONE OF US really can change our lives for the better, no matter HOW any of us were before. I highly recommend this book to anyone interested in near-death experiences, or anyone who cares about living a good life.
