5 Michelin Stars
I love reading recipes but this is the first ever recipe book which I have said down and read cover-to-cover as though it was a novel. I didn't mean to it was just absolutely wonderful. Joanna Weinberg has such a lovely way with words that you not only want to invite all your friends round as an excuse to sample her recipes, but you'd really like it if she could come over too.

She has recipes and advice for ever occasion and (so far) everything I have attempted has come out perfectly. I am a particular fan of the deconstructed cheesecake (delicious and easy) and Manuela's Ginger Chicken (ditto).

The other wonderful thing about her recipes is that they somehow (and I haven't quite figured out how she does it) allow you to be calm and collected when your guests arrive. I am terrible for sweating away in the kitchen while everyone else awaits their meal but with Relish, everything is all ready to go and I have time to throw on some makeup (she even gives tips about such essential preparations).

The only thing I would say is that this is very much a girls' book - which I personally think is a good thing. I think it makes an excellent addition to any girl's cookery book shelf - buy it for yourself, buy it for your Mum and sisters, buy it for your friends. I cannot recommend it highly enough.
Lovely, cozy and fun
A great cookbook...has lots of great recipes and it's a pleasure looking through it. Would make a great present for those living away from home for the first time and have not had that much experience in the kitchen. I loved the idea of cooking for friends, as so few seem to do it these days. A couple of minor points: In the Pommes dauphinoise recipe it says "..picking out the bayleaf, onion and thyme..." but there is no onion listed in the list of ingredients! She can't have meant the garlic because it would be impossible to pick out the garlic (which has to be finely chopped). Would like to know when, how and how much onion... And the lemon drizzle cake is way too sour. It requires juice of 2 large lemons for the batter and juice of 2-3 lemons for the drizzle...even though the drizzle also requires a whopping 120g sugar (in addition to the 150g required for the batter), I made it, and couldn't eat it as it was so sour. I am wondering if it's another typo - or maybe lemons in the UK are not as sour as they are here? Could be.
Superb!
What a fantastic read! It's packed full of informative ideas and thoughts as well as some very 'do-able' recipes. When I discovered it contained the recipe for Persian rice, which explains very clearly how to obtain the scrumptious 'tadiq' (I hope that's how it's spelt) which sticks to the bottom of the pan, I was overjoyed! My Persian friends have tried to explain to me how to achieve this but Joanna's instructions work an absolute treat. This book is not your run of the mill cookery book so buy it and be very pleasantly surprised.
A great read
Joanna's writing makes compulsive reading. Not only is this book full of simple and original recipes which are easy to follow and mouth-wateringly delicious, but her anecdotes and stories, based on her own life and experiences, are beautifully written and make the book a bedside treasure as well as a book for the kitchen. Don't miss it.
An Entertainer's Bible
More than just a cookery book, this book is stuffed with all the info you will ever need to entertain brilliantly and effortlessly. I liked the handy tips especially those on seating plans and clearing the table. The recipes are both delicious and imaginative and do exactly what they claim - they unshackle the cook from the kitchen so she (or he!) can have fun with the guests. Makes other cookery books look like hard work. Put this on your Christmas list!
