Vibrant, exquisitely detailed, downright silly: Matilda Harrison's drawings are a perfect match for Lear's humorous verse. Brightly coloured barn animals, cockatoos, toucans, crocodiles and fanciful beasts literally burst from the pages. Young readers will enjoy the many quirky details--like the mice who run up and down a blue lobster's back, and the man who rides a horse while standing on his head. Nearly two dozen limericks and three full-length poems provide plenty of bedtime variety. For all who enjoy jigging pigs, stilt-walking fish, and lots of other nonsense, including classics like "The Owl and the Pussy Cat." --Martha Silano
