Pretty awesome

I've read most of the great books associated with this genre. This book though reminds me of my childhood, when I first started reading these books, there was a sense of awe, fascination, expectancy and a true mystery to follow. The story ubfolding at a pace that I wanted and I understood tyhis to be good writing skills later on when maturity reared its ugly head.I would reccommend this story to anyone who likes a real time adventure.

An interesting book, very entertaining.

Ok, let it pass the similarities to the Zorro saga (the fighter for liberty who constantly baffles the Commander of the Guards, the daughter of the evil ruler in love whit said Fighter for Freedom), this is one of the best book to come from Michael Moorcock lately ( no rehash of previous writings, there). In there we find two great imaginations who collaborate in making a superb, if not very original tale. The Metal families idea is very Vancean, and the setting is very convincing. I've liked it!

Two rights don't make a wrong!

I'd just finished some pretty far out Moorcock (War Amongst The Angels) when I read this so I was shocked by how grounded the novel is, surely Constantine's influence! The story is well structured with a great gothic atmosphere and some great 3 dimensional characters though the plot, while very well thought out, is your average "find all the magical artifacts" quest. The book isn't bogged down with to many references to every other Moorcock book while it does take the Rose from Blood etc. which I found very refreshing. A great combination of writing talent and a very enjoyable book.

Storm Constantine's best book

This book has it all - good characters, good narrative, and a very good ending. It's clearly a book of the fantasy genre at its best.

Surprisingly good

These are two writers I wouldn't normally think of as being similar and maybe it is their differences which make this such a surprisingly good read. I like both writers and this is a combination of the two -- it's set in Moorcock's multiverse, has typical Moorcock characters and a good, tight, if slightly conventional plot, and it has Constantine's subtleties of character and motivation. An excellent read for fans of both writers.
