Very poor

Gave up after about 70 pages - very poor stuff, cliched stock characters, childish dialogue, an insult to the intelligence - if you like good thrillers avoid this author.

Bought this book in America- on the 4th July- the day the story actuals starts. Believable storyline regarding planned attack in Manhattan. Action starts from page 1 and does not stop until you reach the end
One of the best reads for me of the year

What a fantastic return to form for Brad Thor after The Lions of Lucerne which was one of the most atmospheric books I have ever read I thought he could not match it and I was certainly right for a long time. Path of The Assassin was a by the numbers thriller boring and very little to recommend it and then State of The Union almost turned me right off Mr.Thor.
The story is one of tension, excitement and to some extent rather plausible with America finally having had enough of terrorist attacks and taking the law into their own hands by kidnapping Al-Qaeda's top bombmaker, only for the terrorists to launch a 9/11 style attack on American soil and turning New York into an Island by blowing up bridges and tunnels in an attempt to retrieve their captured colleague. I cannot recommend this book highly enough and safe to say will be buying more of Mr.Thor's books again.
