This has to be the finest collection of cartoon strips ever commited to print. The limited run of ten years allow all strips ever published to be collected in three large volumes giving you every Calivin and Hobbes story there is in one box set.
Buy this and you will laugh and cry in equal measures. And by the time you reach the end of the last volume you will be ready to start all over again.

Reports of the strips being smaller are not an issue for me. If I hadn't read it in previous reviews I wouldn't have noticed. I have also not had any trouble with the binding or anything. Pages are of high quality and the intro from Waterson adds to the enjoyment.
I have coveted this item for over a year and finally decided to go for it. Wish I hadn't waited. Really, really like this product.

Excellent Gift for All Ages!

My son received this the first year it came out. He's 11 now. This STILL sits on his bedside table and he STILL reads the comics often. We had some of the other compilation books (still do) that we got before this came out, but this set is just such a beautiful presentation and the books look to be so high quality.
Actually, that's why I'm only giving this 4 stars instead of 5-- the books LOOK high quality, but they are only mediocre quality. The pages are thinner than average and the binding doesn't appear to be so strong. Still, though, the thinner pages probably kept the size of the collection a decent size and takes up less room on the shelf.
And, with the protective case and hardcover, they should last as long as one is careful. We've had this a couple of years now (I think) and it's in superb condition even though my son reads these frequently.
As for the material itself, I don't think one can ever really tire of Calvin and Hobbes. It's hysterical stuff and pretty politically incorrect (which I always find refreshing). It's laugh-out-loud funny and great for all ages.
