Great stuff

Personally I enjoyed this just as much as the Black Jewels trilogy. Ok so Lady Lia didnt have the same strength as Jaenelle but then I dont think she was really supposed to - but as far as depth of character goes, I liked her and the other characters in this book and cared about them just as much as those from the original Black Jewels trilogy. For anyone who enjoyed the original books, I would highly recommend both this book and Dreams Made Flesh. Both are excellent compliments to the series.

The Invisible Ring

After reading the incredible Black Jewels Trilogy in the quickest time possible... reading wherever and whenever I had a spare moment - I couldn't wait to search out the next Anne Bishop book. I chose The Invisible Ring because it was a Blood Realm book and I wanted to continue on the same theme. I'm sad to say it was a real let down after the trilogy. I found the characters and story to be an extremely watered down version of those in the trilogy. After the depth and detail I had previously enjoyed I kept turning the pages to see if it was going to pick up at all, but it never did. A couple of brief visits from Daemon Sadi brightened things up but hardly did his incredible character any justice at all. Lady Lia is an insignificant shadow in comparison to the Queen of Darkness and her 1st circle.

Excellent complement to the trilogy

Set in the same world, with some overlapping characters, yet completely free-standing, The Invisible Ring is an excellent complement to the trilogy. It is a quite original world, certainly up there with Hobb, Fancher or the like, although it has a little more sex and violence than you normally see in fantasy. Bishop manages to bring the characters and world to life in fewer pages than most writers and the book feels complete in itself, although it hints at the trilogy at some points. It is perhaps not one of the great masterworks, but it is still a good book and definitley worth reading.

Just as good, if not better than the Black Jewels Trilogy.

Another excellent book by this fantastic author. I was totally entralled by this book. I love the way the book had a massive twist in the middle. I think Ms. Bishop has created a wonderful world of magic, passion and honour. It is one of the best fantasy books i have ever read.
