A fantastic end to a fantastic triology

This is the 3rd and final book in the Age of Five series and I must say I was not dissapointed.
I loved the first book book which entered us into the world of Auraya and I loved the second book as it was great for character development but not much of the story seemed to happen in this book. (not that im complaining).
The 3rd book brought the story to a fantastic end. We got to explore some of the new characters deeper and though i suspected what the ending would be it was a fantastic way to end the series =)
I wont go into detail about what happens in case i ruin the plot! eiik!

I have read and re-read Trudi Canavan's Black Magician Trilogy a couple of times, which for me is a marker of whether a book works or not.
I may at some point return to this trilogy, but only for the first two books. This final installment is, I'm afraid, a disappointment.
The characters have become flat and two-dimensional, their emotions appear forced and the ending contrived.
I do not like discussing the plot in a review, because ultimately it is for the readers themselves to find out what the author has in store for us as we wander the routes of their creation.
In "Voice" Canavan appears to have come to a crossroads and lost the way, which is a pity. I hope subsequent works improve, but as it stands I will not be waiting impatiently for her next book.
Read it, if only to know how the story ends, but don't expect to be blown away.

Not nearly as good as the first trilogy

I really liked the first trilogy by Trudi Canavan, The Black Magician, and I may have been expecting too much when I thought this one would be as good if not better. It had the odd moment of sparkle, but finally it fell flat. Hope things will get better in the future.

Extremely enjoyable, perhaps a little rushed?

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and although I had been a little disappointed by the depth of characters in the previous two books, this was improved in this last book, especially the cruelty of the gods and in particular Huan. Despite this being a lengthy book, I could not help feeling that in an attempt keep the series as a trilogy, things had been a packed and shortened. For example at the end of the book (Don't worry I'm not about to spoil the ending) an action is taken by some of the immortals that have not had a great deal of impact in previous books, for example the Gull, and yet even in this final book he gets little a mention and it is the sort of character I had hoped to find out more about in this final book. Overall the ending does seem a little predictable, however this is still a brilliant book and I have no doubt that if you have read the previous two then you won't hesitate to buy it - it's worth it!
