A refreshing change in sea + sail

Woodman comes up with a cracker.I liked the 'Drinkwater trilogy' but this 1st in a new 'trilogy' takes a different tack by delving into black ivory (& other) trade dealing & a boys rise from humble beginings.It even deals with inter racial issues which, in the era the book is set, must have been an unbelievable trial.If you don't buy it, at least borrow it.Why only 4 stars? I'm afraid Patrick O'Brian is my only recipient of 5 star ratings.
