Customer Reviews:
An excellent book for REVISION
Come rain or shine, you are expected to know a lot about anatomy as a future doctor. This is often regarded as the hardest subject by medical students, especially for those who haven't been exposed to anatomy before (at school or college). Well, there is no need to stress anymore, because the Crash Course Anatomy is just what you need to explain complex topics in an easy-to-understand way.

However, I would like to make one very important distinction. This book cannot be used by itself for certain aspects of anatomy. It is vital that you use your lecture notes, teaching and designated reading material to consolidate and understand the anatomical relations. Furthermore, I would recommend a clinical anatomy book such as Moore, for important snip-its about clinical relations.
This is the book you need
Don't be fooled by the daft cartoon on the cover. This book is not dumbed down. If you've ever sat staring at a 2 inch thick anatomy book, and wondered which bits you are supposed to remember for your OSCE in the morning then this is the perfect book for you. Very clear and accurate, and small enough to read on the bus on the way in!
revision :(
As a medical student this has proved quite useful, although the crash course guides for more specific areas are better (as opposed to general anatomy in this instance).

If you are doing nursing/medicine/something similar this is a really useful book to own, just for quick references, rather than trapsing through humungous books such as Martini or Tortora.

Just don't rely on it completely!

A must have quick stop guide to anatomy!
As with all the Crash Course texts, this title presents its subject in a sharp, concise and easy to follow manner. At under 200 pages, it consists of eight core chapters, followed by a self-assessment section. The text is well spaced, and complemented with annotated diagrams wherever appropriate. The layout is clear and logical, as is the order of the subject matter considered. The language is simple, facts being presented almost in note form, enabling the student to absorb facts more easily. The book somehow manages to incorporate a sufficient level of core information without overwhelming the reader. The purple colour used throughout the text works well, as does the flip cartoon feature.

As well as being a must have quick stop guide to anatomy, this book also incorporates an excellent section on self-assessment, including multiple choice, short answer and essay questions (more of which would have been useful). In a nutshell, a simple Snell - superbly done by the student, for the student, and long may it live!

Say goodbye to exam stress with new improved Crash course!
This book is a must for all 1st and 2nd year medical students, as well as others who find Anatomy hard to master. Although it may not contain everything about the subject the information is presented in a concise manner and still contains more detail than some full-sized textbooks that I have used. Moreover, together with an Anatomy atlas this book can be a powerful revision tool; with its easy to follow text, unambiguous illustrations and presentation of information in table and list form. I have found that this conciseness helps learning and retention; as well as preventing ones attention from wondering.

I was also surprised to find that examples of common pathology have been included where relevent and related to the Anatomy and Physiology. Those of you who have taken a spotter or any Anatomy based examination will know the importance of including such detail - least of all for the ensueing clinical years.

Also unlike some Anatomy textbooks I found the self-assessment section very accomodating for different styles of examination practice. The MCQs and SAQs provide a basic understanding, but the essay type questions expand on this knowledge and have provided me with a better capacity for the subject. Besides, if you learn these and their model answers....who knows, the question(s) might pop up in your finals - coincidence, eh?

I recommend this book because it is thin and contains sufficient detail to get you through 1st and 2nd year exams. Furthermore it is also good value for money when you look at some of the other Anatomy textbooks and companion guides on the market today.
