Essential Midwifery, edited by Henderson and Jones, contains 21 chapters by many of the well known midwifery writers. Each chapter contains an outline, clear learning outcomes and a summary of key concepts. The text is easy-to-read but at times fails to contain true depth to a concept. This is a good text for students and qualified practitioners alike as it offers the opportunity to gain a quick update when required but also supports and facilitates those undertaking further study.
