There is much to recommend this book. It is, in some respects, a simplistic novel, yet it bears the weight of the wisdom of a troubled people whose life and history have been irradicated in the history books of its colonisers. The wisdom is not unlike the heart of buddhism and you find yourself wondering how you had never thought of it yourself. Few will finish it without finding a nugget for their nest - not least that "wisdom is not knowledge, but the way it is used". Something for the Christmas present list of the ones you love.
