Editorial Reviews:
When he entered a residential treatment centre at the age of twenty-three, James Frey had destroyed his body and his mind almost beyond repair. He faced a stark choice: accept that he wasn't going to see twenty-four or step into the fallout of his smoking wreck of a life and take drastic action. Surrounded by patients as troubled as he, Frey had to fight to find his own way to confront the consequences of the life he had lived so far, and to determine what future, if any, he has. A Million Little Pieces is an uncommon account of a life destroyed and a life reconstructed.

Customer Reviews:
genius!
Don't believe the hype. Truth or fiction, who cares? This is a fantastic book. James Frey is a literary genius. Beautifully written.
Brilliant.
This book is absolutely in my top five.
It is brilliant. I was compelled to write this review after reading some of the others and completely disagreeing. I completely cared about the character, willed him to live and could picture every place and situation clearly. I read the whole book in two sittings - I could not put it down.
The absence of formal sentence and paragraph structure is a little strange, but I soon found that his seemingly spontaneous use of paragraphs and breaks helped me decipher the meaning and digest the page one bit at a time.

I have since passed this book on to two of my friends, who both loved it as much as I did. My sister is currently reading it and can't put it down either.

100% recommended.
Adolescent fantasy
I got clean and sober by going through rehabs. It took me several attempts. None of them were anything like James Frey's picture. He seems to have missed the point completely. This book is just a fantasy about being 'heroic'. If he ever was a 'real' addict/alcoholic, things are not looking good for him. Recovery requires honesty. Frey is completely dishonest. If you want to find out what rehab and recovery are really about, read 'No Big Deal' or 'Addiction and Recovery for Dummies'.
Okay
I read this book after all the hoopla had died down--you know, the "It's real, no it's not" and all the Oprah trappings that surrounded it. So I went into it expecting it to be fiction and that was okay with me. Knowing that, I found it captivating and the story fascinated me like a bad accident. I would have given this four stars were it not for the fact that the writing style put me off a bit. I kept thinking that it was supposed to be that way because the guy was so messed up, but found it jarring. As a work of fiction it did have a beginning, middle, and end, and there were some nice moments. I just would have liked the writing to flow more. Don't be put off of the subject material either as anyone who has had trouble with drugs or alcohol will understand this book. I normally like lighter more fun reads, but this was a nice change of pace. If you want fun, read anything by Cecelia Ahern----a great, great author!
wonderful
I can honestly say that this is the best book i have ever read.
I dont care if it's not totaly true. (it does say fiction)
So all thouse people who are angry with james frey shouldn't be. I brought the book for a story and thats what i got. An AMAZING story that had me on the end of my seat. it made me smile, it made me cry. I just oved it. i read it in two days, i couldnt put it down. Then i got straight online and brought the second to it 'My Friend Lenoard'
10/10
