I am no God botherer myself, but I am saddened by unhelpful opinions sometimes expressed here, that could discourage someone from having a positive life changing experience. I believe a book such as this can, and has, given to many, myself included very helpful insights into the human condition. Supposing you merely glimpse one of the stepping stones to some enlightenment, as I and others firmly believe can happen, in reading Mr Peck's works.
You Know it is possible that we really don't know what this world is all about (Scientists particularly, seem to resist this point)and perhaps never will, but there is one thing I believe; there is more to this world than meets our (as amazing as they are) limited senses. Just open your mind, and buy, borrow it or steal this(or the original road less..) book ,now!

Full of dull waffle and irrelevant references to god.

I have just started my journey of self discovery and read a number of interesting and thought provoking books. I heard about this book and thought it might enlighten me. I was wrong - it did not. There were only one or two points worth saying or reading. The last part, which concentrated on God and 'her part in your life' was a fanciful and irrelevant self-indulgent piece of nonsense. I'm only sorry that 1 star is the lowest mark I can give!

Beginning, Advertisment and End
|

As scott peck realises he is reaching old age he becomes more reflective. More reflective of himself and what he has done in his life, and also of his previous work. This book starts and ends very powerfully with some excellent thoughts and amendments of some of his previous thoughts. He goes deeper into some topics already discussed in previous books but during the middle I couldnt help but feel that it was a bit of an advertisment for some of his earlier work. Not as gripping or motivating as some of his other books but it does have the definitive section on spirituality. This is very good, but he has already said most of it some where else.
