A True Encore

Russell Watson's second CD is just as beautiful as his first (The Voice). He has a magnificent, powerful tenor voice and he has once again come up with an interesting mixture of pop and clossical/operatic numbers. I particularly like the classical selections like "Che Gelida Manina" but everything is well done and I found that I also liked the duets with Lulu and Lionel Richie even though I am not usually a duet fan. Watson's voice is not only powerful but lyrical and warm and it is quite fascinating to hear him using what seems like two or three different voices in one song. While he is relatively untrained, his voice is so unique and lovely that I find I prefer it to other tenors that I also admire such as Pavoratti, Bocceli, Bjoerling, Lanza, etc. I hope there is a third Russell Watson CD in the offing and I heartily recommend this one.
