To completely grasp this book is to completely grasp the subject of acoustics
|
I graduate from my acoustics degree in 13 weeks, however its become my life long ambition to thoroughly grasp the formula and derivation presented in this book. I am in awe of Morse and Ingard, they were not acousticians, however their grasp of mathematics and theoretical physics was so strong that they could approach the subject from first principles and write a text that remains the bench mark for all acoustics text books. They were the last of a breed of pre computer scientists the likes of which we may never see again. If anyone every asks you ''well what so hard about acoustics?'' direct them to this book.
A word of warning though, this book cannot be read conventionally, it needs to be read a sentence at a time with week long stops for contemplation at the end of each page.
