Worst attempted representation of drugs culture I've ever read.
|
Trust me this is the single most ridiculous thing I've ever read. The drugs culutre simply does not work like this, people don't just get drugs thrown at them and another thing is that the addiction potential for acid is zero, speed is less addictive than the three legal drugs.
Overall a work of fiction thats probably more fantasy than lord of the rings, yes some people fall into terrible addiction but this book is certainly not the standard life of a teenage drugs user.

Brilliant But Im Not Sure If Its Real......
|
|
I am only coming up to my tenage years and i've read Go Ask Alice twice. It is an amazing story but you have to ask yourself this question: Did this really happen? I know there were so many drug deaths in america back then (Whenever 'Back Then Was') but a lot of it is a little deap to be a 15 year old american girl! I mean some of its a bit unbleavable. Aside from that it did put me off drugs for life so i suppose real or not it can effect people so if your a parent whos considering buying this for there kid be them a 11 year old or a 18 year old i would strongly advise you to do it. By the way i took 1 star off because i question if its real or not.........Buy It Now!!!!!!!!!

brilliant

i thought this book was simply brilliant! it really shocked me, because even though i assume it was written in like...the 60s or something i could totally relate to alice! everything about this book is fascinating and shocking at the same time. its amazing that, if this really happened. alice could be so many teenage girls i know, girls i do know, bored by their lives, frustrated by there parents, and using drugs as a way to rebel and have something that is just...fun in their lives. i would recomend this book to anyone who feels slightly trapped by their lives, to show what can happen

A hoax?

It's been suggested by several sources that the diaries in this book is based on aren't genuine - that why were written by someone in the publishing industry.
Having read the book, I have strong doubts about the authenticity of these diaries. They just don't ring true - they feel more like an adult writing in a style he/she considers a 15 year old girl would write in. The grammar is simply too good (in my opinion) for a 15 year old to have written ... and when was the last time you heard a 15 year old use words like 'echelon' and 'antagonistic'.
It's an enjoyable enough read; but the book's main selling point is its claim to be true, and I found this very hard to believe

still makes a point

I was 17 when I first read this book...right back in 1985.....it soon set me on the right path. Still a viable book even in today's culture. If you have a teen or ARE a teen...read this BEFORE trying what your friends say won't harm you.
Brilliant book.
