Customer Reviews:
Very good,but flawed
I have all the S.D Perry novels(Resident Evil)and they are all excellent, particularly City of the Dead, and whilst I would happily give 5 stars to all of them, this is the weakest,it's still great but it does feel a bit rushed on what is the Dreamcast game's second disc, whereas City.. is easily the thickest book, that game is only a few hours long, this (game)is some 4 times bigger but the book feels strangely truncated, hopefully there's one for Resi. 4 soon or even a new original story,I have to agree the 2 original ones would make great games too.
kcorym
The fact that I have only played the gamecube remake for Resi 1, resi zero and resi 4 made reading the books for the rest of the series a lot more exiting and frankly more interesting. Resident evil: code veronica delivered one of the biggest character shocks ive ever had. I couldnt belive that I had been fooled into thinking the ashford siblings were actually in the mansion together when it turns out the guy dresses up as a woman and talks like his sister, pretending she is in the same room with him. All in all it was a great book and can't wait for the next.
Pretty good...
Having read all of Perry's RE series, I'd say this is quite good, not as good as Nemesis. One failing of the novel is it's length, it simply isn't long enough, the game is much longer. The part with Chris is too short. Another failing is that it is based on Code: Veronica and Code: Veronica X, so no Chris/Wesker at the end. All in all, it's quite good.
OK, but not as goor as other RE titles
Another RE game, another novelisation by SD Perry. But this one doesn't seem to have the same style as previous titles. I thought the novel would be as long as City of the Dead, with the Dreamcast version of the game being as long as RE2. Also, having read the novel, it felt like Chris' part of the story was not as important as Claire and Steve's section in Rockfort. It's a shame, as the book could have been done better, but it's still a good read, very faithful to the game's events, with not much being given away, in terms of secrets and puzzles, for those who haven't yet played the game. I'd still recommend it but not if you love the game and have completed it several times, as these gamers will be left slightly disappointed.
Was this written by S.D.Perry?
Oh dear.
I waited anxiously for many months for this, and I'm SOOOOO disapointed.
The plot is excellent, but is spoiled so badly by the way it is written. This is not S.D.Perry's standard at all. Towards the end she rushes clumsily and the final battle is a few lines long. This should have been a masterpiece, but it's not.
The warped minds of Alexia and Alfred are very good, but why didn't she take care and time on this?!?!? It reads like she rushed through it to get it out to the shops. It's SOOOOO bad. I hope that anymore which are released are not like this.
Pleeeeease S.D.Perry. Rewrite it!!! It should have been sooooooooo much better.
*weeps uncontrolably*
