Editorial Reviews:
Mary Higgins Clark's 22nd romantic thriller is destined for bestsellerdom on the strength of her reputation alone. Which is not to say that Before I Say Good-Bye doesn't have a bit of all the ingredients of the Clark genre: a little mystery, a likeable heroine and even a nice guy who turns up midway through the novel and promises her romance and a second chance at happiness. But while the set-up is promising and the bare essentials of a compelling read are all here, only readers who are already Higgins fans will be kept completely spellbound.

Nell MacDermott is the politically ambitious granddaughter of a canny politician in Manhattan's silk stocking district, and her grandfather wants her to run for his old congressional seat. But there are rumours that Adam Cauliff, Nell's husband, has been involved in a real estate and construction scam, and until Nell gets to the bottom of this her political future will be clouded. When Adam and his assistant are killed in an explosion aboard his boat, Nell is determined to clear his name. Nudged into action by her nascent psychic powers and a medium who may be her only link to Adam, Nell learns more about her husband's mysterious past than she bargained for and--naturally--stumbles onto a conspiracy that puts her own life in danger. The narrative seems more like an outline for a novel than a novel itself; the characters are sketched rather than fully explored--particularly Nell, whose back story doesn't provide enough information to make her actions understandable. But the pacing is expert and Clark's dedicated fans will doubtless forgive her for not making this her strongest outing.

Customer Reviews:
Brilliant!
I have litterally just finished this book, and i am still buzzing! The final few chapters were really exciting, and nobody or nothing was going to stop me from finishing it! LOL!

The plot was interesting, if not a bit confusing. The building trade wasnt something i know much about, or care about. But still, a good plotline.

I particulary liked the part about the little boy, and what he does. (Dont want to ruin it for anyone) but that aspect of the story was great.

I didnt guess that the survivor was who it was either, because the clues all lead to someone else, so that was an exciting suprise.

What else can i say? I have never read a MHC book before, and after reading this, i will be on the hunt for more of her books.

10/10 for this one, I loved it!
Known for her suspenseful bestsellers
Mary Higgins Clark writes an intriguing tale that combines elements of a thriller with that of an amateur sleuth mystery. The story line is fun and exciting, especially when Nell begins her inquiries. Nell is a wonderful character and her grandfather comes across as a powerful individual. The support cast is developed to the point where the reader understands their flaws. Ms. Clark provides her myriad of fans with another enthralling tale filled with action and adventure exciting tale.
Fast Read, but loose plot
The further you get into the book the better it flows. You have trouble at first figuring out what she is trying to say in this book. She seems to go off on many tangents. It is not toward the last 1/2 of the book your figure out that Nell, the center character of the book, has to decide if she is going to accept psychic help to determine what happen to her husband. (Which happaens in the middle of the book). This would have been an extremmely written novel or short story if edited even more....
Very disappointing new title
I was expecting Clark's new book with some pleasure, but I found myself very disappointed while reading it. It lacks momentum and should have been better reviewed, as it shows various inconsistencies. Additionally, the story fails to convince because of the accumulation of unbelievable coincidences. I hope the next one will once more each the level we are used to with Clark...
All you've come to expect from Mary Higgins Clarke
Excellent with all the twists, and all the romance added that makes mary higgins clarke one of the best mystery writers around today. This book is a page turner i finished it in one sitting.
