Good but with flaws
|
I was given this book for christmas and it has some great things to do- games, recipes, beauty treatments, more games, etc etc. I found it useful and liked a lot of it but I found some flaws like how it told you to practise falling backwards in a room with a thick carpet! Quite dangerous, don't you think?
Although it had its flaws, I think it's worth checking out.

its old fashioned fun

This has been good clean fun for myself and my daughters. it takes you back to a time that we will never get back but it is good to remember how things were. my daughters are 20 and 9 and have both enjoyed this book. the 9 year old is mature enough to know that a chinese burn isn't the thing to do but i would rather that than children running riot with guns and knives. A sad sign of the times!! makes a chinese burn look a far better option. who didnt get one those as a child.

Good, clean fun and great for a rainy day.

My 11 year old was given this by her grandparents before she started secondary school and she is thrilled to bits with it. It's a lovely book overflowing with outdoor and indoor activities, information, tips on looking after yourself, lists of classic books and films, how to deal with friends and boys (all very sound advice and absolutely nothing shocking in the least bit)and loads more. In fact, just the sort of book I would have loved at that age. Definitely a book that will become a firm favourite to refer to time after time.... oh and there's a fantastic recipe for toffee apples in it, too!
