Delightful

My wife and I read this with both of our kids from when they were around a year old until they were about four. They're twelve and fourteen now but remember it as one of their favourite books from when they were 'young'. Hours of fun.

How often can a book be read... in a single day?
|
My 18-month-old boy demands this book at least three times a day; even after that, if he falls or gets frustrated he will stop crying if I suggest he runs off and fetches it so I can read it to him again. The words have worn tracks in my mind: I can now easily tell him the 'story' in bed without once opening my eyes. He loves the 'story' itself, but also likes pointing at things in the detailed and lovingly drawn pictures ('where's the rabbit? the clock? the sock? where's winbson churchill?')... I'm getting more than a little tired of it now - but its appeal for my lad is unwaning. (I'm a bit mystified at the choice of a London wartime setting, I'll admit, but it doesn't seem to bother children!)
Anyway, highly recommended by young Nicolas - almost as much loved as 'the world's best dive sites'. (Don't ask).

Not for us

A lovely looking book but I have to say that my 10 month old is not at all interested in it. I have to agree that it is more for adults than children. The pictures are too pale and the story a bit dull. Not good for babies.

Every child must have this book

I read this book to my 5 children when it was first published, its a must. I am now a grandparent and am buying it again in board book for my 19 month old grandson. The book is timeless.

My two year old loves this book and looking for the various mentioned items in the pictures. The art work is fantastic.
