Great little book

This book was very helpful.
It contained many very clear explanations of particular concepts in the Arabic writing system which had previously puzzled me. The book is written in a casual, easy to read and understand narrative.
I would definitely recommend this to anybody beginning to learn Arabic.
The book is aimed at practical use, and is somewhat sketchy on the uncommon formal writing system (which marks short verbs etc. etc.) , and doesn't go into details which don't concern us in everyday life, but every word is written in handwriting and type for clarity, and understanding of the more advanced handwriting style.
Definitely worth your money, it provides a good sound basis on which to build your future in Arabic upon.

Ideal for a learner who is completely new to the script

As someone with a keen interest in languages and scripts, I had often struggled to learn the Arabic script. Previous explanation that I had come across before I purchased this excellent book had left me confused and overwhelmed, but this book concentrates the letters into groups, and allows the learner to gradually identify subtle differences between the characters, and move at a more sensible pace. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who is having difficulty learning the Arabic script who is searching for a clearer explanation.

A good book to understand arabic script styles from the middle-east. A teach yourself book. Worth the price

Good start to understand the alphabet and the basics

I usually learn best using my visual memory so when I learn a new language, I need to see it written. Of course, with Arabic, there is the problem of the alphabet. This books explains it very well and takes you through the 28 letters in manageable chunks, with exercises. Then it goes further by introducing the basics of the language itself. Very useful for a beginner.

Nearly gave it 5 Stars - it's well worth buying.

I have been learning Arabic in an evening class and the students have all found it hard to find the right books with relevant informtion for those with a Western/English background. We are also quite a fussy group. However, this book has been well received by everyone in my class and we all use it often finding good information and proper explanations. The only fault I find is that it should have longer and more detailed explanations for some of the concepts. Other than that - it's a good book that would really help those learning the language properly.
