This is one of my five year old son's favorite books. We read every night before going to bed. So, we read lots of books. This one always stays at the top of the stack. The illustrations are magical and make the story come alive.

Great book for music classes.

This is a great book to reinforce a number of concepts. As a music teacher, I love how this reinforces the importance of practice. It's also a great lesson in the "specialness" each of us has within us.

I heard Daniel Pinkwater review this book on All Things Considered on NPR & I found it to be everything he said it was, and more. A great book for any child (or adult) who has faced comparisons with a more talented relative. It shows that we all have gifts that we can soar with. The illustrations are wonderful and fit the story like magic. After reading the book, you can almost hear the song, Music over Manhattan. I'd highly recommend it to anyone.
