A foolish young man vows to save the soul of the woman he loved - no matter what it takes. But be careful what you wish for, you might get it. And so the saga begins in this half medieval, half mystical world of lords, sword-fighting and sorcery. But where this book differs from other fanatsy, is the fantastic weaving of a spirits' many reincarnations. The author has really thought about the ways in which one life could affect another; how people can be tied together through love or hate from this life to the next. Kerr's portrayal of 'energy-working', astral travel and occult magic is very informed {though embellished for the excitement of the story}, and despite all the magic in Daggerspell, she manages to write in such a realistic style.I seriously recomend this as a brilliant read. Not only is it well researched in its magical and historical basis', but also just a timeless story.
