I teach in a French primary school (3/4 hour slots twice a week) and I think this book is fantastic. Lots of helpful ways to use the classic books that I enjoyed in my own childhood. There are interesting lesson plan ideas which enlarge on the principle ideas in the books i.e. life-cycle of the butterfly connected to "The very hungry caterpillar". One of the best things about this book, for a non-artist, is the 50 pages of drawing-filled worksheets based on the books. This weekend we have the school play. As we have been reading the Funnybones book the kids are singing "Dem bones" and I have enlarged the pictures of skeletons from the book to five-year old size and they will be dancing on stage with them. The graphic side of this book is a real God send, and the kids love it too.

An excellent adaptable resource

This book was recommended to me by someone who teaches English to primary age children in Germany. The activities are focussed around picture story books and can be adapted to a range of levels of English. The authors provide a clear theoretical background to some of the ideas - very useful when training others to use the materials. I have tried out some of the materials and ideas with groups of children learning English as an additional language in England and everyone has had great fun. What I think is useful about the book is that the story books are able to be used with younger primary aged children but the activities extend to be used with children up the age of 11. Generally a very useful resource.
