Getting the rhyme wrong

I found a very short excerpt of this screenplay in an old GCSE exam paper, at a writing class I was attending, and there were tears of laughter streaming down my face. Pure gold. Five stars. No problem.

Pure Genius

I am a great admirer of Willy Russels work in general but this has to be his best play of all time. Educating Rita consists of only two characters throughout, Frank and Rita. We follow through the life of the characters from somewhat comic moments to the utter tragic. Willy Russel has a fantastic grasp on the society of the time and prooves that knowledge can be a strong tool. Knowing everthing does not make your life better but having the ability to decide for yourself "with confidence and knowledge" enables you to control your fate in someway no matter how small.

AS level book is shockingly an alright read!!

The only reason this play doesn't get 4/5 stars is because this was my drama text in my AS level english literature course. For once they chose a book that can actually appeal maybe even (shock horror) INTREST the students. The humour is humourous and the issues are proper conversational issues. I liked this play its written well, so you can see what is happening in your head, and its not very often I can visualise drama this clearly. Definately worth flicking through if you dont fancy analysing it to death!
