This York Note, builds on the successes of the previous titles and helped me a freat deal on themes and narrative style within the book. All sections included are relevant and the historical/social background information was very good. Seen as many people find Austen a daunting read, and many need to read it for A level courses, after reading the novel, this helps to clarify any elements of plot you did not understand, as it includes chapter summaries. It is a very helpful aid for revision purposes and coursework information, which it helped me with.

A good introduction to the book for any English students. It gives insight into characters, language etc. but most importantly, themes, especially marriage! I read this book a few times whilst doing Pride and Pred. for AS English lit. and once the night before the exam in addition to "independant study" of my own (as the teachers like to call it),and got an A. If quotes are a problem for you and after reading the actual book you find it hard going, I highly recommend this for you, just as my English teacher recommended it to me. You can watch the TV series as many times as you want, but if you want to understand the quotes you're told to rattle off in the exam, buy this book!
