Customer Reviews:
Couldnt be better
Ideal. Gives you background information, helps with the terminology you may not know, highlights all important points of the book, shows both points of view-critical and it has praise. It really helps you see all of the bits that are of huge significance and are often overlooked and the examiners love those. So it is a must have. BTW, I quite enjoyed reading it so even if you are not sitting an exam you may want to read it just to explore the skills of analyzing of Mice and Men not just on the surface.
an intriguing book with much irony and good issues
Of Mice and Men is a clever well written book. John Steinbeck portrays many different views. The one that occurs the most though is loneliness. Many people in this book are lonely in one way or another and they have different ways about overcoming their loneliness. The book is very like a play and is a microcosm. Curley's wife is placed in the novel either because John Steinbeck thinks all women are tarts or because he is trying to reinforce the emphasize on sexism. George and Lennie are two very interesting characters in this novel which are unbelievably suited to each other. They both wish to live off the fatta the land yet they think very differently. Lennie just wishes to tend rabbits whereas George wants to have a big farm and do the things all American's dream of doing. The novel is revolved around the American Dream, as you find out with Curley's Wife. Irony is tragic in this novel. You sense that Curley's wife is nearing her death and so too do you realise Lennie's death seems rather inevitable. The first and last chapter have many similarities. The setting of every scene is quite remarkable. It is often a nature scene or a scene of one of the bunk houses. At the end of the book you realise just how lonely each of these characters really are, yet most don't realise it.
A Helpful and Brilliant Book....
As studying Of Mice and Men as one of our GCSE texts, I really enjoyed it. It explored so many aspects to life and showed so many themes- loneliness, dreams, reality, etc, which we can relate too. I thought it was one of the best books that I have read so far, during my GCSE English course. Also, I recommend this book to people doing the text for GCSE English as this book is really helpful...
Perfect , and easy to learn more accessable.
I started reading this book for my GCSE course this year and at first I thought the Of mice and men book was hard to understand but when my friend discovered there's an easy way to learn the book which will I use for my exams this year I found it really easy and understandable. I recommend this book to everyone. It is well cheap too.
Great for Exam revision
This guide is wonderful as it helps you to gain knowledge of characters, settings, plots and background history, about Steinbeck himself that appear in the novel Of Mice And Men. It is good also for preparation essays.
